                                                    ironies as they unfold.  	One of the defining characteristics of a Shakespeare play is that there are layers upon layers of plots, subplots, and three-dimensional characters. One of the  
                                                
                                                    earliest ironies is that Hamlet should not see the parallels between the way his father gained the throne and the way in which he was dispatched(Levy). Hamlet, Fortinbras and Leartes  
                                                
                                                    are all very different people coming from different backgrounds and motivations. However, they are all connected by their need to avenge some wrong done to them or their family. What  
                                                
                                                    separates them is the way in which they go about this deed and the way they all managed to deal with their problem. Fortinbras life parallels Hamlets life, but the  
                                                
                                                    irony is that he is able to act. 	In the beginning of the story, young Prince Hamlet is escorted to the battlefield where his friends and servants lead him to  
                                                
                                                    the ghost of his father who tells him that Claudius has murdered him and stolen his Queen. Hamlet vows to avenge his fathers death.
