the patients there. What still remains a profound puzzle to those who knew Harvey is why a seemingly nice, intelligent, normal person would be capable of such acts. If
anything Harvey is an anomaly. Most serial killers have that in their background which allows for the commission of murder. In other words, most killers have justified the action due
to some twisting in their mental make-up. Harvey, however, was a different case. From all reports he was never a troublemaker. In fact, he was a straight A student throughout
his school career, though he did drop out of high school in his sophomore year (Stimson 1998). Other serial killers have in their background a propensity for fixating on
certain ideas or philosophies. However, as far as the experts can tell, Harvey did not stalk his victims, nor did he collect anything of theirs as a keepsake, some recognition
of his control over their lives. Rather, Harvey quietly administered lethal injections, or suffocated his elderly patients, as he claims, as an act of mercy. Many might attribute this to
an overly religious nature. And, yet, Harvey was not remarkably religious either. Once he was incarcerated, the length of his tale began to unfold. Most experts have been able to
trace Donalds first murder to the hospital where he went to visit his ailing grandfather. While visiting with his grandfather he got to know a good deal of the staff.
