run the gambit from terrifying robotic creatures to bloodthirsty predators or extraterrestrial gurus. Generally speaking, however, aliens fall into one of two categories: sadistic and saintly. Two very good examples
of this portrayal of aliens in film are the movies, Alien and E.T. Alien featured Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, the ballsy heroine who is left to defend life, liberty
and the pursuit of intergalactic supremacy. "Alien life comes in many shapes and sizes, but in almost all films, is superior to humanity in one or more ways"(Promise of Science).The
trouble is, an alien life form, with an impressive set of quadruple jaws has other thoughts on the matter. What this film portrays early in the film is the alien
as the top of its food chain pitted against the top of the food chain in mankinds universe. Though the Alien in this movie appears to have some sort
of strategy, it behaves in an almost animal-like fashion, hunting, reacting impulsively to stimulus, and behaving much like a wounded animal when injured. However, it does have feelings of revenge
and hatred which can be attributed to a higher intellect. The sexuality of the alien in this movie is non-descript, androgynous and it is only in the subsequent sequel
that the alien is given a sexual orientation. In the second movie of this series the alien is a Queen whose main goal (besides destroying them all) is to place
her embryo into the body cavity of some human host. Ostensibly, as the baby matures, it finally eats its host. Though there is very little discourse on the societal
structure of the alien in any of the films in this series, it can be determined that these aliens are a race of warriors and hunters. They do not seem
