for the better or the worse, depending on the circumstances, events, and people. For three boys at Welton Academy for boys, meeting their English professor, John Keating, would be such
a pivotal moment for them. Welton: rich school for rich kids. The students that attend there are there because their parents expect results. Most of
the students there have parents that are in the upper tier of society. They are doctors, lawyers, or politicians. Would someone personally choose to attend Welton? Probably not. The regimented
lifestyle does not allow for any sort of free expression or originality. Students there are taught the party line and are taught to conform, to make money, to do what
it takes to become captains of industry. They are not taught about the integral parts of being human. This is where, of course, John Keating does not fit the mold,
and why the administration has such a hard time with his teaching methods. The good thing about the school was that they had the best of
everything. They had the best equipment, land to accommodate all of the buildings, and the money to bring in top-notch teachers. The grounds were kept in good repair and there
was no evidence of peeling paint on anything. Schools like Welton do exist in the United States. They are generally very close in nature to
the way that Welton was depicted. There are schools like this for boys and for girls. For a while, boarding schools such as Welton were the norm for those living
in the upper class society of America. However, what ended up happening was that the children became alienated from their parents and the family bond was weakened. Many in the
