Normandy, one of the most pivotal events in WWII, and offers the reader a very basic look at the events and the history. This book is very short and yet
is filled with incredibly pictures, documents and maps, making for a quick and informative read. The following paper reviews the work by Anthony Kemp. D-Day and the Invasion of
Normandy The author, Anthony Kemp, is a professor and has written many historical works which have shown him to be a very powerful author and historian. His works generally discuss
the most basic of events in a very clear and scholarly manner. Many times historians write and have hidden agendas in their work as they try to prove one thing
or another. Not enough historians actually seem to just present the facts, which is what we ultimately want in a history book. We do not want a varied amount of
opinions, but rather facts so that we can create our own opinions. As such Kemp proves to be a very good and simple writer although he may well be argued
as one who clearly sides with the Allies in the work. The author does not necessarily have a thesis, other than the fact perhaps that the Invasion of Normandy
was paramount to any further success in ending the Second World War. His work is primarily aimed at simply offering facts, at showing what happened at Normandy, why it occurred,
and also what the results were. It is, as mentioned, a very short book that really only informs us. It does not try to make an argument necessarily, an argument
that would perhaps show the futility of the invasion. He is simply offering facts. Through his presentation of facts he offers the reader a relatively quick glance at many
