, July 2010 properly! Nobeoka, Dyer and Madhok (2002) reported that most studies about the relationships between
Japanese suppliers and automakers focus on the dynamics of that relationship and how well the assembler performs. Instead, these authors investigated the relationship from the point of view of the
supplier. They propose that a broader customer scope is what will dramatically increase performance. This outcome is due to the fact that there are more opportunities to learn. It
has long been known that Japanese companies gain a competitive advantage because of the alliances and partnerships, such as keiretsu suppliers, they established between companies. Research has consistently revealed the
cooperative relationships between automaker and supplier creates a competitive advantage. Some studies have even shown that it is because of these relationships and cooperative alliances that Japanese automakers outperform U.S.
