is unlikely that it will sell. As such, it may be argued that all firms have to have a degree of comer orientation in the way that they produce and
market their goods and/or services (Kotler and Keller, 2008). Where a demand for a good or service does not exist the firms will seek to create a demand, in
other instances a firm may be attracted to serve a need or desire that is already existing, matching its own competences and resources to a gap or availability within a
market (Mintzberg et al, 2008). However, the level of customer orientation that is present in the decision regarding what goods are brought to market and the way that are sold
will depend on many factors, including the views and strategies of the firm and the ways that they respond and believe that they can influence the market. When looking
at a large firm such as Toyota and their automotive operations there has been consideration of what it is that customers want, and this has been allowed for in the
way that products have been brought to market, there is also consideration of the way that the firm believes the market will move in the future, but this is also
