something that essentially involves the entire school and helps all teachers and grades follow along a particular path, mapping out the overall direction the education takes. Walter Minkel (2002), in
his article "Charting a clear course: curriculum mapping takes the guesswork out of what students are learning--and what theyre not," states, "Using comprehensive, easy-to-understand tables, curriculum mapping lays out what
students are actually taught, and when--as opposed to whats supposed to be taught" (60). The following paper reviews Minkels article. Curriculum Mapping For the most part it appears as
though the majority of schools, if not all the schools in one way or another, that utilize curriculum mapping also utilize some form of technology to make the process easier
and more structured. Otherwise it seems that many schools were "wringing their hands about: curriculum mapping" (Minkel, 2002; 60). this leads to the necessity of some standard, according to the
article, that makes it easier for all involved. The premise of this particular article is aimed at illustrating one program designed by a school to make mapping easier: "Monroe
Public Schools Superintendent Norman Michaud wanted to know if his schools were meeting the states K-12 teaching requirements, but he found all the paperwork cumbersome. So he asked Ed Montagnino,
the districts head of information services and technology, and Richard Canfield, director of instructional services and professional development, to find a way to electronically chart what was being taught" (Minkel,
2002; 60). The article mentions other programs and discusses the various problems and situation that suggest the need for truly organized technology in relationship to mapping. Minkel (2002) states
