to date on the most important developments in our field. They allow us to measure up the technology that we are currently using against that that has only recently
been made available. One particularly worthy symposium that promises to do just that is just around the corner. The third annual IT Audit Research Symposium has been scheduled
for July 6, 2009 in San Francisco (The Institute of Internal Auditors, 2009a). This event promises to be of even more value because it is being held in conjunction
with the IIAs International Conference. The upcoming IT Audit Research Symposium will include speakers form all types of backgrounds and experience
arenas. Slated topics include, in part, the application of usability testing in the evaluation of IT controls for software applications that are developed in-house (The Institute of Internal Auditors,
2009a). Auditors involved in detecting cases of fraud will benefit from discussions on interviewing techniques that will help with this task (The Institute of Internal Auditors, 2009a). Auditing
problems revolving around extensible business reporting terminology will be addressed as well during this symposium (The Institute of Internal Auditors, 2009a).
In addition to the topics outlined above, the 2009 IT Audit Research Symposium will include a diversity of presentations from noted IT professionals. Kurt Milne from the IT Process
