Vice President is Zeng Qinghong who was elected the same day (China, 2007). The head of government is Premier Wen Jiabao, who took office on March 16, 2003; the Vice
Premier is Hui Liangyu; he assumed office March 17, 2003 (China, 2007). The president and vice president are elected by the National Peoples Congress, not by direct election; they
serve a five year term and are eligible for re-election to a second five-year term (China, 2007). The next presidential elections are slated for mid-March 2008 (China, 2007). The president
