is whether or not something is art, or garbage. In the film, Whale who is the protagonist also happens to be the director of some Frankenstein films, and he becomes
engaged in a circumstance where he and a man named Boone form a friendship. While Whale asks him to pose nude so that he could be drawn, Boone agrees
and is unaware of Whales homosexuality. Without homosexuality entering the picture, the drawing of nudes is something acceptable. But in todays day and age, where everything is oversexualized, drawing a
nude model without supervision perhaps is suggestive. It is no longer safe to merely have men and women in separate locker rooms. What about the lesbian and gay students? These
are questions that erupt in the minds of people, and that is the type of thought provoked by Gods and Monsters. Today, it is well known that women and
men can be homosexual and so drawings can be construed as either sexual or mere works of art without being sexual. There is no blanket assumption that men will not
be excited by men, and women by women. Another possibility is that drawings can be created of either the same or opposite sex, and they can be both works of
sexuality, and still be considered works of art. Heterosexual women may paint women who are clearly displayed as sexual and this does not mean that there is something more to
the relationship between the subject and artist. Similarly, in the film, the mere creation of a work of art does not mean that something untoward is occurring. Still, one question
