in hand with the Italians, and they do not tolerate anything less than absolute loyalty to both. All males in the family fiercely protect the women and young girls,
whether that applies to social aspects - such as investigating a potential suitor - or just in the general sense of physical protection. Italian interests often revolve around family, friends
and food. This combination provides some of the most endearing memories for an ethnicity that is so close to their roots. Indeed, there is hardly an event that
occurs where food is not part of the main affair. Eating for the Italians is more than a physiological requirement; rather, "breaking bread" (Anonymous, 1997, p. 28) symbolizes many
things, including faith, devotion, family values and love. In no other ethnicity besides, perhaps, the Jews will one find such connection with emotion and sustenance to food as one
does with the Italians. The skills and abilities brought with them from the old country established them as some of the most talented of all immigrants. Borrowing from their
special talent with food, Italians grace the country with their wonderful cuisine and jovial atmosphere. They are a people who like to enjoy life, and they try to pass
along that enthusiasm through their various talents. They are especially skilled at entertaining in many different capacities; the number of Italians in the entertainment field is quite indicative of
