2003). Fulfillment of this task requires that educators recognize that the way in which a teacher presents information is always mediated by culture, as culture is a term that encompasses
all of our personal beliefs, ideas, values, assumptions and behaviors. Culture, in other words, provides the background that mediates between the individual and how reality is perceived. Therefore, therefore
a teachers cultural orientation necessarily affects the way in which subject material is presented. Cultural mediation recognizes this fact and the "value-laden nature of teaching" (Parsons, 2003, p. 23). This
