and how in a very broad sense, so as to encompass human beings as both a whole and an independent entity. How human beings relate to one another depends
greatly upon the particular situation. Family members exhibit different behavior when they are together from that of a married couple; mere acquaintances do not establish the same bonds as
do those who have been lifetime friends. The variables that determine how and to what extent people interact are some of the main concepts sociologists study when they attempt
to unlock the secrets of human behavior. Scientists have long studied the reasons why people become the individuals they do, noting that a
combination of genetic and environmental influences mark the two most significant aspects of personal development. Fraser (2004) points to studies that have been conducted on identical twins separated at
birth and raised in different families to indicate that while there still exist some genetic elements that inevitably assist in the overall developmental process, the twins ultimately grow up to
be two very dissimilar individuals due to their respective upbringing. II. CULTURE AND NATURE Culture and nature are inextricably intertwined, which provides
