or the most outspoken will often gain the greatest level of attention. One group, which has a more reserved culture is that of the Indian Hindu culture. There are
two main religions in India, each has developed similar, but divergent cultures; the Muslim and the Hindu Indians. The Hindus culture is more reserved and due to the focus on
Muslim culture in the news, it is also a culture that is overlooked. The socio-economic factors and the lifestyle are very different from western norms. Many households are extended
families rather than nuclear families, families ties are very strong, family members will often stay in the same areas and it is seen as duty to look after relatives that
are unwell, physically or mentally, this is not limited to immediate relatives (Minarik, 1996). In terms of the workplace there is a movement towards gender equality in Hinduism, and
many women will work, but this is still a patriarchal society ((Veylanswami, 2002).. However, in the home the matriarch, the eldest female, is in charge of all domestic affairs. Younger
newly wed couples will often live with one set of parents, even if they are going to set up a separate home. Indian Hindus will often be vegetarians, some will
be vegan, refraining from meat, fish, dairy and egg products, however, the cow is scared, so even where they are meat eating it they will not eat beef or any
