There are a number of examples which illustrate the contention that religion can be definitively
impacted by culture. This is true for the Christian religions as well as for other prominent world religions. Because of world events, however, we are becoming more and
more aware of other religions and the cultural conditions which translate into a difference in the way that religion is practiced and interpreted. Islam in particular has begun to
serve as a point of confusion for the Western World as to exactly what its teachings are and whether or not it stands as an overt threat to Christianity.
Growing rapidly in popularity, Islam is in fact spreading across the world. Because of this rapid spread it is particularly sensitive to cultural deviations in its practice.
