undertaken to assess if the presence of a system that monitored the movement people with dementia would help careers in supporting better sleep by reducing their level of worry regarding their charges. The problem that is identified by the research is linked to the problems face by careers of patients with dementia. When the sufferers are cared for in a home setting it has been demonstrated that those charged with their care are likely to have poor quality sleep resulting from issues such as worry regarding the activities and whereabouts of these they care for. Research by other authors has indicated that carers of those suffering from dementia suffer not only sleep disruption, but that this has a knock on effect on health increasing stress and potentially having ah impact on their own mortality (Schulz et al, 2004). While much of the literature focuses on the needs of the patients with dementia, it may be argued that the carers needs have been subjected to a much lesser degree of study, so the research by Rowe (et al., 2010) which tests a practical solution which has the potential to aid sleep for carers. A comprehensive literature review is presented which is able to justify the need for research in this area and provide a rich background. The literature review takes research from a range of sources, and dates, while many sources are from the preceding five to ten years, the lower level of research in this area may explain the need to use some older articles as there are also a number of articles from the 1990s.
