a given situation. Mirriah further establishes the obvious connection between being fair and balanced with the elusive notion of truth, an industry ill that has plagued reporters since Hearst and
Pulitzer first introduced the concept of sensationalistic journalism. The quest to obtain the story at any and all costs has completely eclipsed any semblance of ethical fortitude where the
subject is concerned, instead compelling what might otherwise be ethical, upstanding reporters to compromise their journalistic integrity just to get something in print. Particularly evident of this fact, as
Mirriah duly points out, is when CNN chairman Walter Isaacson insisted on his foreign correspondents balancing reports of Afghan casualties or hardship with reminders that Americas were the innocent victims
of terrorism, thereby sending the message that lost lives of innocent Afghanis were not as valuable a commodity as lost American lives. This skewed sense of loyalty to a
