This site provides links to a number of important user sites, including those that explain the SafeSurf rating system, that provide links to sites that have received a positive rating
from Safe Surf and to sites that outline the problem of child pornography and porn predators on the World Wide Web. Though this site is adequately designed and uses
a distinct link strategy to produce outcomes, there are some issues with the design of the site and the lack of clarity in its message. Overall Design When you
first enter the SafeSurf website, the image displayed is one of dolphins leaping out of the water in the form of two Ss. The image is also repeated in
the "watermark" of the page, along with the SafeSurf name. This is eye catching and immediate conveys an image of safety, through the protective image of the dolphin.
The top line depicts older students in the upper left hand corner with the logo and the statement: "SafeSurf-the original Internet rating system...". Under that line is a
link to "How to Stop Porn Predators," which suggests that the site itself is designed to provide this kind of protection. No where on the first page of the
website does it tell the viewer exactly what SafeSurf does, who it does it for or what the consumer appeal may be. The design concept behind the web
site integrates the use of pop-up menus and fading graphics that allow the user to point to specific elements and read more about the available choices. The website itself
