of why you have chosen the component for analysis. All three components of the criminal justice system are important. Without any one of
them, the system would no longer continue to function. Corrections, however, is the end zone of the system. As that, it is the place where criminals wind up.
The police arrest the criminals. The courts adjudicate the criminals. It is the corrections department that houses them, feeds them, punishes them, and attempts to rehabilitate them
before they are allowed back into society. 2) Why you feel the challenges are important. The three major challenges that are
confronting corrections in the 21st century are prison overcrowding, limited funds, and protecting society from criminals by imprisonment and/or rehabilitation. These concerns are vital for corrections. When prisons
are overcrowded, many prisoners are released early. Some that would not have ordinarily been released are released. Plea bargains give criminals lesser sentences. Additional prisons must be
