is carried out. In the U.S., as in other nations, choosing a jury is important. It is the jury that decides ones fate. Yet, there are many other aspects of
the criminal justice system that are significant. For instance, can a prosecutor try a murder case when no body is present? In the United States this is becoming more and
more popular but would not likely hold water in Japan. Throughout the world, many governments model their systems after the U.S. courts or the English court system which is similar.
Yet there are differences in terms of whether or not mediation is used, the proof required by prosecutors to make a case, whether judges sentence harshly and whether or not
justice systems treat foreigners differently from citizens. So many questions crop up when evaluating criminal justice around the world. In doing this, evaluating several countries can help to demonstrate certain
differences and similarities. In embarking on such a journey, the United States will be compared with the court systems of Argentina, Japan and Israel. These are four distinct countries found
in different parts of the world. II. Criminal Justice in the United States The stages of the criminal justice process in the United States include an arrest and
booking procedure. However it also entails a preliminary arraignment, a preliminary hearing, an arraignment, a pre-trial hearing and the process of jury selection. A primary feature of the American judicial
