a section on education and a section on employment. The paper then presents an examination of increasing penalties which has proven to be somewhat helpful in reducing crime.
Education Education has often stood to be one of the most important factors related to crime. It seems that, more often than not, a population of individuals who live
in a poverty region are apt to receive a less adequate education than the average population, especially the middle class population. Now, interestingly enough, Spain is experiencing an increase in
their middle class, and also experiencing more people buying houses. This type of information would clearly indicate that more people were becoming educated, and that the benefits were being reaped.
Without a proper education people can not become adequately employed, as we shall see in the next section, and without adequate employment they will not achieve middle class status, nor
will they achieve the possibility of owning their own home. Education ahs always been an important part of economic success, and economic growth. This is the case even under conditions
where an educated individual must wait some time before obtaining work, which seems to be the case in Spain: "Successful transition into the world of work varies considerably by education
attainment in every country. In general, the burden of joblessness among the young falls on the least educated and the least skilled. In a number of countries, amongst young men
- much less so for young women - the most educated have to wait the longest to find work. Examples where this occurs are Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain"
