seemed to move from one criminal activity to another as she struggled to survive. Her story is one that addresses real life conditions of a pocket of people in the
nation, but also a real life condition that is often not seen, or even talked about. The following paper examines this film, discussing it from different perspectives. Monster
The main character is Aileen Wuornos. She is a prostitute and a woman who sees no other way to deal with her life
than to be a prostitute. She has been raised in an environment that has offered her nothing, not education, no love, no sense of motivation to be or do more.
In the beginning of the film she is ready to commit suicide because she feels so alone and helpless. She then meets Selby, who is younger, from a better background,
but seems to lack any direction or ambition. Selby may well be going through a time in her life when she is trying to decide what to do with her
future and she is ready for anything. As such she gets sucked up into a love affair with Aileen. These two characters
are completely realistic and very believable. They are individuals who have no real direction in their lives. They are lonely, and they find comfort in each other. They do not
really think about right and wrong, but just being happy and needing love and comfort. In this they are very real. Perhaps many people could not relate to them, or
see them as real, but there are many people in the world just like these two characters in terms of simply needing to be loved and feeling like they belong
