AND YOUTH Because conduct disorder ranks as high as ninety percent in urban settings, it should not come as a surprise that todays
society is faced with a considerable amount of deviant children whose family life is the catalyst behind their antisocial behavior. Research has shown that boys are three times as
likely to possess aggressive tendencies as girls, which can be considered an accurate assessment being that boys are typically regarded as the troublemakers. Aggressive behavior would not be such
a concern in children if it were a natural occurrence for them to outgrow the tendency; however, statistical findings indicate that an overwhelming forty percent of seven- and eight-year-olds ultimately
embark upon their adolescent years as "recidivist delinquents" (Scott, 1998, p. 202). Additionally, a full ninety percent of recidivist adolescent delinquents displayed disorder characteristics when they were young.
