and National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) represent the two primary crime data sources in the United States whereby national statistics are collected, analyzed and presented to various agencies for the
purpose of tracking trends and gaining a close understanding of how and which crimes impact the country. Each of these data sources is unique in methodological procedures and implications,
two defining elements both beneficial and detrimental with regard to the overall collection and processing of statistical information (Department of Justice, 2004). As Americas number one source of criminal data,
the NCVS provides gathers its information from a sampling around the country that incorporates more than seventy-seven thousand households, equating to almost one hundred thirty-four people; pertinent to the gathered
