worth seeing. This paper considers the process of creating a play. Discussion There is nothing like live theater. The excitement of seeing real actors perform on a stage is a
unique experience. When the play is "working," a connection is established between the actors and audience, so that the entire group works together to create a new product every single
time. Theater is magic. The playwright: the person who writes a play is a "playwright" not a "playright" or a "playwrite." The "wright" ending, as in cartwright or wheelwright, suggests
that the author is a craftsman, someone who has the skill and ability to take ordinary words and transform them into something extraordinary. While its possible to write a good
play first time out, such efforts are rare; plays, like other forms of writing, are the end product of a long creative process that includes writing and rewriting numerous times.
The world of the play: The first thing any writer has to decide is why they want to write a play. This is so basic its often overlooked, but the
question must be answered: why this form? Why not a screenplay or a novel? What is it about the story that demands it be told by actors working on a
