Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 6 page paper looks at the way flow in the supply chain can be created and enhanced. The discussion includes looking at the Theory of Constraints (ToC), variance and dependency, push and pull systems and the benefit of stabilty. The bibliography cites 3 sources.

indirect costs, including opportunity costs, and benefit firms strategically due to an increased responsiveness. When looking at creating flow thorough the supply chain According to the Theory of Constraints
(ToC) every organization will have at least on constraint that prevents it from attaining higher levels of achievement and through the use of a simple step by step approach there
may be the potential of overcoming some of the limited that result from the constraints that are in place. Therefore, this is a theoretical approach that may be used effectively
when seeking to improve flow through the supply chain. The constraints will usually be either internal constraints or market constraints. The key is to increase the flow that occurs at
the bottleneck caused by the constraint; by alleviating a bottleneck the flow can be improved. The theory of constraints puts forward six stages, the first is the expression of
the goal; the second stage is to identify the constraint which means identifying the factor which is preventing the goal from being reached. The third stage is to disseminate best
way that the constraint can be exploited, making sure that it does not do things and should not, and where possible take advantage of any constraints in place. The forth
involves the alignment of all the processes with the decision was made at stage three, the fifth stage is to elevate the constraint, this means to increase the capacity of
the constraint. For example, increasing the capacity could simply mean buying more. The last stage takes process into a circle, where there
is a return to stage one, as its likely that the constraint which is in place has moved, and the new constraint can be dealt with in the same way.
