pronounced when comparing universities and colleges in different countries. The ideal would be that a degree in economics or any other discipline would mean all graduates would know the same
things regardless of their alma mater. We know that institutions of higher education are having financial troubles in the U.S. and in other parts of the world. Mostly, these funding
problems are in nations where the government provides a great deal of financial support for colleges and universities (Hanson, 2003; Drakich, Grant and Stewart, 2002). We also know that these
same institutions have faced new consumer demands as the world has changed and they have tried to meet these demands. With shrinking budgets, it is nearly impossible. What would
a new college look like today. If the founders could begin from scratch, what would they do? This paper discusses the creation of a new institution of higher education. This
will be a small private college. It will eventually offer a full range of academic studies but is beginning with three very broad departments. The paper discusses the student population,
funding and the reason for choosing these specific departments of study. How this new college operates is a reflection of the times and the need to meet the challenges faced
by all higher education institutions today. Demographic Information for Student Population This college has a mission of excellence, excellence of faculty and staff members and excellence of students. The
founders are returning to admission policies that were used when the overwhelming majority of graduates from colleges really did know their field of study. Students must meet stringent academic objectives.
