considered their relationship with God through the Covenant.1 Eichrodt argues that Gods relationship and His interaction with Israel as a nation and as His people, were always perceived through His covenant with them.2 Interestingly, it is this very covenant between God and Israel that acts as a bridge between the Old Testament and the New Testament. In both worlds, that of the Old Testament and that of the New Testament, the covenant describes Gods relationship with His people. He is present in the Old Testament through the covenant and He is revealed again through Christ. Thus, it is through the concept of covenant that one perceives Gods relationship with people throughout history. Paul explains this in his letter to the Galatians. He explains to the people that God made a covenant of promise with Abraham and He made a covenant of Law with Moses.3 The latter was created at Sinai with the Israelites through Moses. Paul saw these two covenants as separate and individual In these covenants, God established what the relationship would be. This is a divine covenant and that means the people are subservient to God. In other words, there is no mutuality in these covenants. God tells the people that they are to do or not do certain things. God made a number of covenants in the Old Testament. There was a covenant with Adam, another with Noah and another with Abraham and with David before His covenant with Moses and the Israelites.4 In Exodus, God presents Moses with the Ten Commandments that the Israelites are supposed to follow.
