general public sees portrayed in television shows and in film are entertaining, often inspiring young viewers to investigate the law to further and, perhaps, even choose some aspect of the
law as a career. However, while shows such as Perry Mason, Law & Order, or CSI are significant for this reason, they should not be viewed as totally accurate representations
of "real courtroom activity" (Meyer and Grant, 2002, p. 3). Federal sex crimes prosecutor Allison Leotta publishes a blog, The Prime-Time Crime Review, in which she reports what
TV shows, such as Law & Order, get right about criminal justice procedure, but also what such shows get wrong (Randag, 2010). Leotta reports that shows, such as Law &
Order, are "part of what inspired me to go to law school and become a prosecutor" (Randag, 2010). Law professor Michael M. OHear of Marquette University Law School recommends her
blog to his students. In her post of December 9, 2010, Leotta relates the top five things that TV crime shows get wrong. These are, first of all, that it
is rare that police can get usable prints off a gun; and, secondly, that rapists are seldom strangers to their victims (Leotta, 2010a). Some of her critique refers to incidental
features of TV shows, such as the fact that female prosecutors do not wear stiletto heals and victims are rarely beautiful heiresse3s who have a secret life as a stripper;
