in customs and celebrations, there are certain characteristics that help to define the family. A look at one family story may help to provide some characteristics associated with the Jewish
family. A book description provides a stereotypical, but somewhat truthful look at one particular family: "A quintessential Jewish American princess raised in a wealthy Westchester County household, Klam is ill-equipped
to cope in a world where growing numbers of women are gainfully employed. Her mother, who spends her days sunning, gossiping, and shopping, would have been perfectly happy to have
her daughter snag a rich husband and settle down" (Block, 2008, p.34). The book of focus is comically entitled Please Excuse My Daughter. Stereotypes abound. The women who come from
Jewish families are encouraged to marry rich men and not work. The men are encouraged to become doctors and lawyers. Of course, beyond the stereotypes are the realties of
