the client if Jade is actually the clients name. Overview Plan and Introduction * Jade and I spoke on the phone briefly prior to our session, in order to
gain information about Jades purpose for seeking counseling and the time frames that worked best to meet. At the first counseling session, I introduced myself to Jade, discussed the
parameters of counseling and sought ways to make Jade more comfortable in the interaction, including referencing information that Jade had shared in the initial phone conversation. I explained the
type of counseling model (CBT) that we would be using and Jade appeared satisfied with the information I presented. I asked if Jade had any questions, and he did
not. I also provided Jade with information about privacy rights and my pledge to maintain confidentiality, and then asked Jade to elaborate on what brought him to the counseling
session that day. * Jade began by discussing his desire to address drug and alcohol issues, but initially discussed this in terms of the lack of affordability of his
current habits and his need to consider the impacts of his choices. He then went on to discuss his health as a secondary issue and his children as a
third issue. It became evident that Jades was initially minimizing the impacts of drugs and alcohol, and it quickly became evident that some of the issues that led to
