program for children who have been exposed to domestic violence. One of the primary considerations for such children is that the violent situation in their homes has been alleviated and
that the children are residing within a safe environment, a womens shelter, foster care, etc. However, for the purposes of this proposal, this factor will be assumed, since the proposed
program addresses helping children deal with the psychological aftermath of exposure to violence. In this regard, probably the most advantageous method of screening for the program would be to
accept referrals from officials and agencies regarding children who are judged to be in need of counseling. However, Siegel, et al (2003) employed the following questions in screening mothers regarding
the possibility of domestic violence in their homes: 1. Are you in a relationship now or have you ever been in a relationship in which you have been harmed
or felt afraid of your partner? 2. Has your partner ever hurt any of your children? 3. Are you afraid of your current partner? 4. Do you have any pets
in the house? 5. Has your partner or child ever threatened or hurt any of the pets? 6. Are there any guns in your house? (Siegel, et al, 2003,
p. 599). Grove (1997) stipulates that practitioners and staff aiding children in regards to domestic violence should understand the effects of violence on children. Grove also emphasizes that
