directly computed items that do affect the bottom line of any firms financials and can be easily manipulated. Within management accounting are a variety of items that can
have a significant impact on the bottom line or are implicated in profiting. In addressing this issue, a student wanting to write a paper on this topic, while utilizing BellSouth
as an example, will want to first address theoretical concepts and define them before going on to provide information about BellSouth specifically. Then, a student creating his or her own
paper on this subject will probably want to evaluate the theoretical material, along with the example, to draw conclusions. In the end, the reason why the explored concepts are considered
valid in the industry, should be used in an analytical conclusion which considers the example provided. First, an overview of related theory is appropriate. II. Theory The
value chain idea comes from the "strategic approach to cost management" (Securing & Goldbach, 2002, p.34). The two perspectives examined here are the industry value chain as well as the
