studying corporate initiatives of the twenty-first century, there are several that come to mind. For example, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia wanted to offer its employees a wellness program
(Elan, 2006). It is an idea that makes sense as after all Blue Cross Blue Shield is a health insurance company. In fact, Elan (2006) claims that the firm felt
obligated to offer this benefit. The Vice President of Human Resources Christine Miller remarked : "It was not good for us, a wellness company, to not be paying attention
to what we were offering in our own cafeterias. Were no different than anyone else in the marketplace. Our costs are going up, and were looking for ways to mitigate
that. These [rising] costs are not sustainable, so we need to figure out how to engage our employees. Ninety percent of health related instances are the result of health choices"
(qtd. in Elan, 2006). Blue Cross Blue Shield chose Aramark to run its cafeteria (Elan, 2006). Aramark is a program that takes into consideration nutritional guidelines but the firm also
takes education into account (Elan, 2006). They strive to provide variety as well as education, so they do not take anything away from the employees (Elan, 2006). Blue Cross
Blue Shield is one example as other large firms are following this path. Yet, smaller organizations have not implemented corporate initiatives at that level (Elan, 2006). Also, older companies are
