worship could easily be perceived as cultish because there had to be the animal to be sacrificed, the temple, a priest, offerings and services to commemorate the sacrifice (Webber, 1994).
There was a difference between the sacrifices and worship services of the Israelites who believed in One God Almighty and pagans who worshipped many gods. Sacrificial worship began with Cain
and Abel and continued through history. Cain and Abel brought offerings to the Lord. In Genesis 22, we read that the Lord commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac as
a burnt offering. In Isaiah 19:21, we read: "So the LORD will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship
with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and keep them" (NIV). Sacrifice and worship were interdependent. Insofar as there were specific elements in worship
in the Old Testament, those elements could be perceived as a template for worship. The word most associated with worship in the Old Testament is sacrifice. This template is only
used in some services today. Shifferd (2009) offers this example to compare worship in Old and New Testaments. The temple under the Law of Moses is the temple of the
Law of Christ. The Israelites believed that the Spirit of God lived in the Tabernacle, which is why it was guarded so carefully. In the Old Testament, priests conducted or
performed the services, the same is true today, priests/ministers perform the spiritual services under the New Testament (Shifferd, 2009). All of these acts are validated in the Bible. In
Exodus, the Lord tells Moses: "Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them" (Exodus 25:8). In Leviticus, the Lord says that the Israelites need
