most popular types of convenience foods is microwave food. As one author notes, "Microwave ovens are a sign of the times, or should we say, the lack of time. What
they offer is impressive speed and convenience for the price of a cheap TV" (Love, 2005). Microwave ovens are essentially indispensable anymore in our society. The following paper examines microwave
food, discussing nutritional value, and reasons for buying and eating these convenience foods. Microwave Foods The nutritional value of the microwave foods is similar to other convenient meals.
They are packaged in factories that generally put in the various vitamins and minerals that we expect from our meals. There may be elements of nutritional value within the foods
themselves, without additives, but in most cases nutrients are placed, artificially, into the meals. As would be expected, the nutritional value one gets out of a microwave meal is not
going to be anything close to what a person could get from the fresh foods and a home cooked meal. But, the nutritional value for general health is present. When
we speak of microwave food we note that the microwave is used for everything from heating up coffee and leftovers to cooking a meal, either packaged or homemade. The microwave
offers a great deal of convenience for many people. For example, they may need or want a quick cup of coffee and they do not want to reheat a whole
pot. It is far quicker to pop a cup of coffee in the microwave for less than a minute. And, no other dishes are dirtied in the process. Parents use
the microwave to cook their children a quick meal. And, for most older children the microwave is a very quick way to cook their own meals. Most children would not
