is no wonder that an artist will look down upon something that is contrary to his view on what should be. This is particularly true in respect to architecture where
the end product is just as useful as it is aesthetic. Wars have been fought on this front. In fact, for a good part of the twentieth century, the split
between traditionalism and modernism had been entrenched in architectures cold war ( Giovannini, 2002). Some discredit Postmodernism as well as variations and outgrowths of modernism (2002). Modernism had made its
mark and attracted many fans. Interestingly, today, the conservative position is no longer Postmodernist or traditional, but rather a reiteration of reductivist Modernism (Giovannini, 2002). The major directions that
came about during the past generation seems to be equated with Surrealism, and had never revealed themselves in architecture (2002). A hybrid vigor had resulted in the work of
architects who "cross-pollinated" a variety of strains as they created their own inventions (2002). The different influences had not been thrown together safely and in fact the thing that they
have in common just may be Modernism (2002). Yet, it could be a very diverse Modernism that was no longer tied to a particular interpretation (2002). In some way,
modernisms influence never left. Modernism may also be construed as an architecture of ideas (Beha, 2002). Beginning with the Seagrams Tower to the post-Sputnik high school, modernism had reinforced
post war ideals in respect to assertiveness and a rebirth of itself (2002). Modernism came at a time before great transitions were made in society. It was before the civil
