for this organization is as follows: " We are forward deployed to provide excellence in Force Health Protection. We promote, preserve, and restore the health of those we serve" ("US
Naval Hospital Guam," 2006). Hence, health is of the utmost importance and supersedes political concerns. Also, the vision statement of this facility is: "We will set the standard for Fleet
and Family Centered Care in the Military Health System" ("US Naval Hospital Guam," 2006). In many ways it appears that the facility has fulfilled its mission and vision. For
example, the organization has employed a substance abuse treatment program ("US Naval Hospital Guam," 2006). This is something that is important in protecting the health of the individuals served and
this is something that also goes to family centered care. It is said that addiction is a family disease. Thus, attention to such issues is admirable and goes to a
sense of family care. Also, the facility incorporates offices of the Red Cross ("US Naval Hospital Guam," 2006). It goes above and beyond what a typical hospital might do. Yet,
while the organization seems to be meeting its criteria in terms of helping the community it serves, are there control mechanisms in use? How might this organization thrive with the
