closer understanding of the teachings of Christ. My parents and grandparents always instilled in me the importance of the teachings of Christ and the value of religious faith. Though
I believed and considered myself a faithful person, I had no idea the importance that religion would play in my life and in my daily activities. Over the past
10 years, my faith has grown stronger all the time, especially as I have met the challenges of immigrating to the United States. Since we moved to this country
when I was 15, I have experienced many challenges, ranging from developing language abilities to determining my role in the social and educational culture of new schools. This transformation
in my life gave me insight into the power and value of religion and the importance of embracing Christian ideals. Pastor Steve Proctor of the Westwood
Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, maintained that it is impossible for us to extract ourselves from our views of the world in relation to the educational process. In
fact, the very grounded aspects of our social, religious and ethnic cultures come into play in how we frame our understanding of the world. It was Proctors contention, then,
that religious values are important as a foundation for learning. "All education is based on some view of God, man and the world. Neutrality in education is impossible"
