Rodgers, September 2010 To Use This Paper Properly, Please Introduction There are many different cultures in the United States and perhaps the two most obvious are African Americans and Caucasians. However, one could argue that in many instances there is not a lot of difference between the two in relationship to traditions or lifestyles for many African Americans have acculturated into the mainstream society and many whites have actually turned to a more African American tradition through such social realities as hip hop and rap. However, one can also argue that there is often a very deep seeded difference between the two in relationship to cultural foundations. With that in mind the following paper examines the differences in the two cultures, while still keeping in mind that the gap between the two cultures has clearly closed a great deal in the past few decades. Contrast in African American and Caucasian Families It should perhaps be understood that if one wants to find differences between African Americans and Caucasians one can find many. For example, African American families likely have stronger verbal traditions in telling history and about ones family. African Americans are more likely to celebrate Kwanza than whites. African Americans are more likely to engage in committed singing in church and perhaps they are more likely to go to church than white people.
