or at least accepted, by many industries. What this means is that change must be faced with tools which can serve to benefit an institution or an individual. How we
face change, however, is up to us, and often up to which path we may choose to take to meet the change. Many times the choice is between continuous or
discontinuous. In short, continuous is often more radical and more revolutionary than discontinuous which is evolutionary. In the following paper we examine continuous change and discontinuous change in addressing the
need for adjustments to inherent changes. The paper also discusses planning v. incrementalism in the face of change. What is Strategic Change? As we have established, the point
is not whether to change or not, for change is inevitable. The point is how one will meet the change that will come, or the change that is already here.
Organizations, as well as individuals, must realize that an understanding of where, how and what kind of change will occur is imperative to understanding how to approach that change. It
is not enough to simply know that change will occur. This brings into play strategic change for it is in this particular aspect that an organization, or individual, meets
the change in one way or another. By creating a strategy of sorts an organization can stand to survive, and mold, with the change much more effectively and efficiently. Now,
we must also understand that many people, or organizations, simply accept the fact that change will come and they adjust accordingly, or hopefully accordingly, when that change occurs. This is
a very passive approach to change. Others may well aggressively predict and confront the change, anticipating what must be done with the changes that are presumed to be near. This
