Judaism has been perceived falls roughly into three historical categories. During the lifetime of Jesus, and continuing into the first century, early Christians considered themselves to be a sect of
Judaism (Sandmel 251). During this period, the demarcation between Judaism and Christianity was either "non-existent or very poorly defined" (Sandmel 251). However, as time progressed and more Gentiles joined the
