he does not necessarily go in for the digital or printing aspect of the art. Isabelle Hayeur is from Canada and is known for her digital art in relationship to
photography. However, despite the slight difference in their medium of photography they are both photographers who capture a powerful essence concerning their subject matter. The following paper examines each photographer
and their work and compares and contrasts two works from each photography. Contemporary Photographers: Gitman In relationship to Gitman one author notes
that he is well known for being a very outspoken individual and one who is incredibly eloquent (Anahita Gallery, 2008). The author informs the reader about the range of his
work noting how, "His series of photographs of tuberculosis patients in Russian prisons is essentially documentary, but his architectural and street photography is coolly formal. His work is reminiscent of
Atgets documentation of architectural detail in Paris. Gitmans subject is Moscow - rougher and more beaten down, but still beautiful" (Anahita Gallery, 2008).
Although Hayeurs work is a different form of photography there is something similar in how she offers up her work. As one author notes, "Montreal artist Isabelle Hayeur uses
todays digital tools to cast a penetrating eye on the urban landscape. In her work mountain-scapes of newly excavated farmland loom over suburban tract houses and the melancholic beauty of
the sky or the remaining vestiges of the natural habitat lure our gaze" (Jessica Bradley Art Projects, 2008). One can see that in the work of both individuals the purpose
seems to instill thought and serious contemplation about simple elements in relationship to their photographic subject matter. The works to be discussed
