be considered, but also it should be taken seriously. Community involvement is becoming more and more prevalent. Rainer (1997) points out in The Bridger Generation, covering students born between 1977
and 1994, that this generation has more of an interest in education than their boomer parents ever had. With people in the community acting as if they understand the educational
needs of the students, what should an educational leader do? One side of the issue supports the increased involvement of community members. Years ago, John Dewey created a model
that supported community involvement and down the road, during the 1960s where there had been many protests, community involvement was recommended (Epstein, 2006). Many also believe that the community has
a lot of the resources needed by the school systems (Epstein, 2006). Therefore, it makes sense to involve the community. Community involvement is something that is seen as integral to
creating a positive workforce (Epstein, 2006). It is an idea that makes sense. If small businesses in the local area employ teens for example, or come to the school to
provide information, vocational training is integrated into the school system without additional cost. The community members get to know the students and vice versa. Epstein (2008) remarks: "More will be
accomplished if schools, families, and communities work together to promote successful students." It seems as if community involvement is a positive thing, and it is for the most part. However,
when the community is at odds with the Boars of education, problems arise. There are in fact many issues where the community and administrators are at odds (Schweer, 1983). Curriculum
development is certainly challenging as there is a tug of war between parents, administrators and students about what should be taught as diversity needs to be addressed. Sometimes, educators feel
