military or Congress, is very much a national institution that must abide by many laws, and also provide for freedoms presented by laws. The following paper examines how several Constitutional
amendments relate to the institution of education. The amendments examined are the 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, 10th, and 14th. 1st Amendment The 1st amendment is one that most
people are familiar with. It is the amendment that truly lays down many of our freedoms as citizens of the United States. The amendment is as follows: "Congress shall make
no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably
to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" (FindLaw, 2006). This particular amendment is perhaps very important these days in society as it relates to
education due to the problem with religion and state. The fact that the amendment claims it will not have a law that requires religion, or a particular religion in society,
involves school and the condition of religion in schools. In recent times there has been a great deal of controversy over the simple use of the word "God" in the
Pledge of Allegiance. There has also, in the past, been controversy over not allowing any kind of religion or religious group, or any prayer, to be allowed in the school
