John F. Kennedy, perhaps as a result of the fact that he was assassinated in one of the most televised crimes ever to be broadcast across the airwaves, is one
of our most memorable presidents. Our cultural memory of JFK, however, within a very narrow time frame. Kennedy, born in 1917, was only forty-six years old, when he
was assassinated. He had served less than three years as president of the United States at the time of his death. His assasination was not only one of
the most disturbing in the history of this country, it is still an event which is steeped in controversy and mystery. No doubt JFKs ultimate assasination is tied with
his political career overall. He served, after all, during one of the most turbulent times in American, and indeed world, history. It is plausible to believe that the
ties Kennedy maintained while in office coupled with his various political stances to result in his assasination. Who exactly was responsible for this assassination, however, will likely never be
discovered. While Lee Harvey Oswald was convicted and sentenced for the crime, it is quite likely that he was not acting alone.
We remember Kennedy in two very different lights, first as a great man, a great politician who had the interest of the country in his heart. On the other
hand we associate the Kennedy name, yes even the name of John F. Kennedy, with a darker image, an image involved in philandering, risk taking, and even organized crime.
