because without consistency there is no real solid foundation to a persons profession or activity. Improvement is necessary, but it must generally be consistent so that others can rely on
the individual and so that success can be achieved through something of a consistent plan. In the field of massage therapy this is also the case. Like many professions the
massage therapist must deal with people, much like a physician or a salesperson, and without consistency in the realm of professionalism a massage therapist will likely lose customers. The following
paper examines the importance of consistency for the massage therapist in relationship to professionalism. Consistency: Professionalism and the Massage Therapist In first understanding the element of consistency involving
professionalism one must perhaps realize that professionalism is something that denotes a sense of being able to rely on the individual. For example, if someone goes to a chiropractor and
that chiropractor is messy, confusing, and without clear focus they are not presenting themselves as professionals and the chiropractor will not incite confidence. They will lose customers because they are
not acting professionally. In being chaotic in the example the individual is also showing they are inconsistent. Inconsistency is a very powerful reality involving the lack of professionalism in this
particular example. The massage therapist, like the physician or the chiropractor, is an individual who is being paid to deal with an aspect of the clients health. Health is
