a special journey. The mission, of course, is to enable women to live full, happy, and healthy lives. Womens health care, especially at the clinical level, requires a
broad minded approach yet it also requires a diligent attention to details. One of the most important concepts in this task is enabling women to be not only cognizant
of their health but also attentive to it. Education, and important part of enablement, is the second critical concept. Finally, the third important concept is the provision of
the necessary clinical support for testing and treatment. In the 2004 article titled "Health-Promotion Behaviors that Promote Self-Healing" author Michael ODonnell emphasizes the
importance of health-promotion programs in correcting behaviors such as smoking, in relieving stress, improving fitness and nutrition and reducing weight. Health promotion is in itself a critical component of
enablement. This encompasses, of course the two latter concept as well. It is only with education that we can strengthen women so that they are proactive when it
comes to their health. The clinical support that we provide them, in turn, reassures them and provides them an analytical gauge against which to compare their progress.
Some of the health problems affecting women are acute in nature and others are chronic. Hypertension, for example, is defined as a systolic blood
pressure of 140 mm Hg or greater and a diastolic blood pressure of 90 mm HG or greater (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2006). Problems such as
hypertension are chronic problems that can, if left unaddressed, develop into potentially life-threatening problems. While the early stages of the condition are relative innocuous, hypertension which is untreated over
