considerations. The ethical considerations are premised on the philosophies of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, John Stewart Mill, William David Ross and other great philosophers that have contributed guidance as to
how to discern when a particular choice or action is right and when it is wrong. Given the tremendous power of mass communication it is important to keep these
considerations in mind in each of our professional actions. There are more streamlined approaches to determining ethics of a particular situation as well. These approaches are encapsulated in
a variety of forms by a variety of authors. Two of the more interesting are Rush Kidder and Ralph Potter. According to
Rush Kidder, there are essentially two types of problems that arise in ethics. These are moral temptations and moral (or ethical) dilemmas. While there are subtle distinctions between the
two, Kidder offers a set of guidelines that can be used in deciding when something is ethical and when it is not. First, the relevant facts of the situation
must be identified along with the moral issue at stake. The next step requires that the moral actor be determined and the situation analyzed from a three pronged perspective,
a perspective that Kidder prefers to call the "trilemma", a perspective that essentially evaluates the various options that are available. The initial option is evaluated in comparison to the
third option and the so-called middle ground, a compromise between the two primary options. These, however, are just three of the steps required by Kidder. In all, the
